My name is Justin Galusha and I am the Lead Teacher of the Social Studies department at Weymouth High School.  I currently teach AP Psychology and AP Seminar. I also work as an adjunct professor of educational technology at Eastern Nazarene College.  In the afternoons and weekends I am an architectural photographer, amateur soccer coach and full-time dad of three awesome individuals.

Background
I graduated in 2001 from  Eastern  Nazarene College with degrees in both History and Secondary Education and started teaching at WHS in 2002.  In 2006, I completed my Masters in Education through Fitchburg state college.  My continuing education has also allowed me to be trained by the College Board to teach AP European History,  AP Psychology and AP Seminar.

Professional Activities

- I am currently serving as the co-chair for the school's NEASC Self-Study.

- As Lead Teacher of the Social studies Department I am in charge of scheduling and curriculum oversight for a department of 19 members.

- I was the chair of Weymouth High School's Design 21, a faculty driven initiative to redesign one of the state's largest high schools.  Through our work we created the school's career academies, instituted school-wide rubrics on core 21st century skills, launched a community service graduation requirement, and designed a senior capstone project for all of our exiting seniors.  Our work has since gathered national attention and started many reform discussions at other schools.

-  Throughout my career I have also taught Active Citizenship to 9th grade students, United States history to at-risk learners in our Evening School, and AP European History.
Why all of the photography on this website?
Besides teaching, my other passion is photography.  You can view my portfolio at justingalushaphotography.com.  I enjoy honing my craft and pushing myself to become a better photographer.  I share my photography on my school site - both the good and the bad-  to show my students that while I will be giving much critical feedback to them during our time together, I also seek out and incorporate critical feedback into my own work.  It is not about being perfect.  Perfect does not exist and if it did, it would be boring anyway. It is about getting better. "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." Albus Dumbledore
