Psych as a Science Research Project

You will complete a research project in which you use credible research to support a claim about a topic in psychology. You will write a 5 to 6 page research paper about your topic and post it on our website.  Your paper must use 6 different sources.  Two of these sources must be from academic journals, one must be your own original research*, and three may be from text or internet sources as long as they aren't '.coms.'  By the time our class is done with this project, we will house an excellent student-created resource for other students of psychology to begin their research.

During this project you will learn to:

  • Select an appropriate topic
  • Evaluate information critically and competently
  • Access information efficiently (time) and effectively (sources)
  • Manage the flow of information from a wide variety of sources
  • Use information accurately and creatively for the issue or problem at hand
  • Apply a fundamental understanding of the ethical/legal issues surrounding the access and use of information
  • Synthesize your research
  • Reflect on your project

For this project you must digitally save and hand in the following:

  • Step 1: Proposal (10pts).  Due  4/12
  • Step 4: Five note card sheets from five different sources (50pts).  (15 of 25 due 4/24 and 25 of 25 due 5/14 )
  • Step 4:  Original research results due 5/14
  • Step 5: Final CSD3R House (10pts). Due 5/18
  • Step 5: 5-6 page rough draft of your paper and your works cited page (50 pts). Due 5/23
  • Step 6: 5-6 page final draft of your paper and your works cited page (200 pts).  Due 5/29
  • Step 6: Project review checklist and reflection. Due 5/29

Your final draft will be assessed using the school-wide rubrics for Written Communication and Research
